The cover model on the August issue of Diecast Collector, is this rather striking release of Northcord Model Company's impressive Alexander Dennis Enviro 400MMC, operated by Stagecoach, wearing a wonderful purple, white and silver tribute livery, celbrating HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years as our monarch.
Already released in many other liveries, such as National Express West Midlands, Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, Bluestar, Stagecoach West Scotland, Southern Vectis, Stagecoach South, Ensign Bus, Xplore Dundee, and National Express West Midlands, this latest version of Northcord's 10.9 metre long, single-door casting – No UK6529 - represents Stagecoach South fleet number 10945, carrying registration SN18 KNJ.
Originally painted in Stagecoach South's graduated blues, orange and white Coastliner livery, the bus received its new commemorative look earlier this year, well ahead of the recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations. A regular on route 700 to Portsmouth, even before its latest look, the bus has been modelled on this route with a sub-destination of Gunwharf Quays and wears a single tree protector to the upper nearside front corner.
The branding has been fully-replicated on top of the gorgeous purple and silver on white livery, with the official "THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE 2022" circular logo prominently located on both sides (purple on white) and to the lower rear (white on purple), plus smaller representations either side of the front destination box (white and purple on black). Additionally, the usual advert panel between the deck windows on either side carry the legend "Stagecoach are proud to celebrate, with the community" and "The Queen's Platinum Jubilee 1952 - 2022" in purple text.
The model will be a limited edition, of 1,008 worldwide, and this is already very much in demand. So don't delay, or you might miss the bus!
