Maserati's 250F was a racing car made for the '2.5 litre' Formula One racing regulations between January 1954 and November 1960. Twenty-six examples of the 250F were built.

Making its debut in the 1954 season, the Maserati 250F managed eight World Championship wins during its four years in top-level competition. Juan Manuel Fangio took six of these, with Stirling Moss being behind the wheel for the remaining two. Famously, Fangio broke the lap record at the Nürburgring 10 times on the way to winning the 1957 German GP in his 250F.

The front-engined 250F also took many, many more non-championship victories before it began to be outclassed by the new breed of rear-engined racing cars.

CMR makes excellent models and this mighty Maserati is no exception. Whilst these might lack some of the extreme detailing of much more expensive replicas, the price more than makes up for this.

One of five versions of the 250F recently released by CMR, this version is the only one that does not replicate a specific event, wearing a simple all-over red paint finish with a yellow nose stripe and no racing numbers.

The nicely-detailed cockpit is very pleasing and the model also features front wheels that can be positioned to suit for display. And those wheels look spectacular with the spoked detail very neatly executed.

A truly excellent release that will be a highlight of any motorsport enthusiast's collection.
