Tennants’ sale of Toys, Models, Collectables & Sporting Items on 5 April resulted in a good range of high prices across the diverse sections of the sale. In particular, Matchbox and Dinky toys achieved good, strong prices, while fishing paraphernalia performed consistently well throughout.

Rare diecast models proved once more in demand, and two lots in particular attracted interest in the saleroom. A Dinky (Pre-War) 28M 1st Type Wakefield Castrol Motor Oil Van reached £1,300 (estimate £800-1,200), and a Shackleton David Brown Trackmaster 30 Caterpillar Tractor, one of only 50 ever made, sold above its £400-600 estimate for £1,000.

However, the top lot of the sale was a Scratch Build 1 1/2inch scale Royal Chester Tractor Engine; this highly detailed model, finished in red with black and yellow lining made £1,900 against an estimate of £1,000-1,500.
