Another infamous rocket-firing Boba Fett action figure goes under the hammer

Deem a toy dangerous and you are probably well on the way to making a fortune. Take the infamous rocket-firing Boba Fett action figure, which is a good case in point. Riding high on the Star Wars themed bandwagon (or should that be spacecraft?), this fellow never made it into production and was ignominiously pulled off the assembly line over health and safety fears.

Hake’s Auctions in the US had this little chap up for grabs at its July sale, where he fetched an eye-watering US$112,926, which is a new world auction record for any Star Wars toy. The special prototype, which was intended to be part of Kenner’s licensed toy line for The Empire Strikes Back, was displayed at the 1979 Toy Fair in New York City.
