Construction is well underway on a new purpose-built auction centre at W&H Peacock in Bedford.

Building work on the project began back in January and the new premises will open in November 2017. The new Auction Centre will provide five spacious auction rooms, reception area, offices, meeting rooms, gallery display areas and a fully serviced restaurant. To further enhance the customer experience the auction centre will have Wi-fi and modern audio visual systems, over 200 parking spaces, excellent loading facilities and be set in landscaped surroundings.
The auctioneer plans to move its regular Saturday auctions plus its monthly sales of antiques & collectables to the new centre and also hopes to extend the variety and types of specialist sales. Some current sales will continue at the existing auction rooms in Newnham Street.

The auction centre is a prestigious design and build project comprising the construction of a 35,000 square foot auction house, with 1st floor offices and sales areas, café, restaurant, galleries, display areas, auction halls and warehousing.

The building makes extensive use of recycled materials, water and waste monitoring and high insulation. Combined with low air permeability this allows construction of a very efficient and environmentally friendly building.
