Dubbed ‘the world’s first LEGO auction,’ East Bristol Auctions sale of the iconic brick product on 3 December proved a huge success. ‘The interest was staggering,’ said auctioneer Andrew Stowe. ‘The saleroom was filled with LEGO aficionados, and the internet was electric’. 300 lots, ranging from single minifigures to some of the most sought after Star Wars sets fetched over £15,000. Among the highlights were a Star Wars Motorized ATAT 10178 which sold for £430 including premium and LEGO Town Hall 10224 which sold for £360 including premium. ‘The Christmas sets were hugely popular,’ continued Andrew ‘given the time of year, it’s to be expected. Bidders in the room were fighting bidders online and the price just went up and up. Practically every set in the room made above its RRP when first issued. LEGO is incredibly popular. East Bristol Auctions will be holding two specialist LEGO only auctions each year with the next one being 2 June 2017.
