Michael Driver, Chairman of the Dinky Toys Collectors’ Association, reports from the DTCA AGM:

The annual Dinky Toys Collectors’ Association AGM was once again held in Derby on  21st June at the Hallmark Hotel.

The meeting commenced at 11.00 am with an introduction by the President, David Cooke and then Chairman Michael Driver gave his report. This was followed by the Committee members’ own reports. There was some lively discussion on a variety of subjects during the meeting and the existing Committee was then re-elected.

The DTCA continues to attract new members from all over the world and the year had seen displays by members at the HRCA 45 year celebrations, the Windsor Toy and Train Collectors Fairs and the Whitewebs Motor Museum. The DTCA quarterly Journal continues to improve with many fine articles and information on Dinky Toys and related subjects.

After the AGM there were displays of Dinky Toys by members. These included some more unusual models such as the Lemeco lookalike Dinky Toys from the 1950s.  There was much discussion in the room and the opportunity for members to meet and talk about their own collecting and their recent ‘finds’.

In the evening members enjoyed a relaxing meal with more Dinky Toys conversations and a talk by David Cooke on how he first started collecting and then found Dinky Toys to add to his collection.

On the following day a number of members took the opportunity to visit the Barry Potter Donington Toy Fair and to search for more Dinky Toys to add to their collections.
