After only reporting yesterday that the M and M Collection at Vectis Auctions featured a rare prototype James Bond Aston Martin DB5, today it's the turn of Batman to turn the heads of bidders. Among a superb selection of Corgi Batman models, the highlight was most certainly a Corgi No. GS40 Batman Gift Set including the Batmobile, Batboat on trailer and Batcopter. Estimated at £300 - 400, this was certainly no Joker as it realised a crime-busting £1,000.

Here's the description from Vectis: Corgi No.GS40 "Batman" Gift Set comprising of Batmobile - black, wide wheels, blue tinted windscreens with "Batman & Robin" figures, grey plastic aerial, 2nd issue Boat, black, plastic fin with bright gold trailer - complete with Batcopter - conditions are generally Near Mint to Mint (apart from a slight peeling to decals on batcopter), comes with missing attached to sprue - inner plastic tray is Excellent Plus (does have a couple of very small splits) in generally Excellent rare striped window box.

This wasn't the only Batman lot to catch the eye of bidders and another highlight was a rare issue Batmobile finished in matt black. Corgi No.267 "Batman's" Batmobile - rare issue finished in matt black, red bat hubs, blue tinted windscreens, with "Batman and Robin" figures, grey plastic aerial - Excellent Plus, still a superb example, inner pictorial stand is Good Plus to Excellent, outer carded blue and yellow picture box is Good Plus to Excellent (does have a lapel badge fitted to one non-picture side), comes with sealed instruction pack believed to contain folded leaflet, lapel badge and missiles on sprue. Estimated at £400 - 600, it sold for £700.

Other Batman lots included: Corgi No.267 "Batman's" Batmobile - black body, wide chrome wheels, blue tinted windscreen, with "Batman" figure, grey plastic aerial, comes complete with missiles attached to sprue - Mint in Near Mint later issue orange, yellow and black window box with detachable header card, nice bright example. Sold for £160.

Corgi No.GS3 "Batman" Gift Set - comprising of Batmobile finished in black, red bat hubs, blue tinted windscreens with "Batman & Robin" figures, grey plastic aerial, complete with 1st issue Batboat - black, tin thin with "Batman & Robin" figures, gold trailer with cast hubs - overall condition is generally Near Mint, inner plastic tray is Excellent, rare harder to find 1st issue window box is Good Plus (although slightly grubby around edges but has been nicely recellophaned) - comes with loose missiles and instruction sheet. Sold for £320.

Corgi No.GS40 "Batman" Gift Set comprising of a Batmobile - black, chrome hubs, blue tinted windscreen with Batman & Robin figures, grey plastic aerial - Batboat on Trailer 2nd issue - black, plastic fin, gold trailer - both are Near Mint to Mint and Batcopter - black, red - overall condition is generally Excellent Plus (does have marks to front window) - comes with missiles attached to sprue, outer striped window box is Good Plus. Sold for £240.
