Auction Guide - September Images

Auctions are obviously extremely important in the world of collecting because it often gives you the chance to buy that rare collectable you’ve been trying to snag for years. So with that in mind we’re pleased to introduce a new auction guide to show you some of the highlights coming up over the next few weeks. Of course, we’ll still be covering auction reports in Collectors Gazette but this is intended as a quick and handy preview, which we hope you’ll find informative.

Tuesday, 18th September – Chiswick Auctions

There are plenty of tin toys in this auction. One of the highlights is lot 182, which includes two penny tin toys (a pleasure boat on wheels and a nodding elephant pulling a cart) made in Germany during the 1900s. They’re estimated at £100-200. Also of note is lot 182, a Roulet Decamps clockwork walking cat, with mouth movement and meowing sound, estimated at £200-300.

For more details, check the Chiswick Auctions website.

Wednesday, 19th September – Warwick & Warwick

As well as numerous trains and toys, this auction also features a wealth of postcards, picture cards and cigarette cards. There are also plenty of trains going under the hammer from makers including Franklin Mint, Wrenn, Hornby and Bachmann. For toy figure collectors, lot 310 is likely to be of interest, as it features a selection of late 1940s/early ‘50s wild west Timpo, Britains and Crescent figures. There are 86 pieces in total and the collection is estimated at £200.
