£238,00 Toy Sale - success at SAS Images

The Toys for the Collector auction, which took place at Special Auction Services on 27th and 28th July, proved highly popular resulting in very few unsold items and realising a sale total of £238,000.
Amongst the highlights were a rare Märklin clockwork tinplate two-funnel battleship ‘HMS Admiral Beresford’ c. 1904, which sold for £14,000 and a Bayko Light Construction Sets which went for £5,200 against an estimate of £150-250.

Two fabulous single owner Gauge 1 Collections also went under the hammer. The Keith Lewis-Hall Collection included a wide array of Bassett Lowke locomotives, rare rolling stock and several fine buildings and made £50,000; while the Edward Manisty Collection (built for his garden, but never used) included very fine scratch-built locomotives and superb GWR coaches built by master modeller John Clegg as well as a highly-detailed station, uniquely built by a fellow of Cambridge University going for £10,000.

The sale also included a large section of Meccano constructor cars and aircraft as well as Dan Dare vehicles which proved popular with collectors.
