When Ghostbusters burst onto the big screen in 1984, I wonder if anyone thought that it would turn into such a huge movie and memorabilia franchise?

Written by two of the main stars, Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis, and also starring Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis the original film has become a cult classic. In fact in 2015, the United States Library of Congress even selected the movie for preservation in the National Film Registry.

A 1989 sequel, two animated spin-off television series and a 2016 'reboot' followed but, as is frequently the case, none had quite the appeal of the original.

So it's nice to see that Auto World has chosen to model the original movie version here, although the scale of 1/21 is rather an odd one, presumably there is an element of 'fit the box' coming into play here. But this doesn't detract from what is actually a rather good replication of the now famously adapted 1959 Cadillac Ambulance.

The paint finish is excellent all over and the chrome is well finished too and looks realistic - there have been too many models over the years where the detailing has been over-chromed and looks cheap. That's definitely not the case here, and it displays really well as a result.

There are opening front doors, bonnet and rear tailgate, a nicely detailed interior and engine bay, and realistic blue lenses to the roof. And last, but by no means least, it even comes with its own Slimer ghost in semi-translucent green rubber. Fabulous!
