The celebration of Sir Isaac Newton's birth was marked with a special release of an intricately designed 50p coin. But what is this fantastic coin now worth?

The Royal Mint released the Sir Isaac Newton 50p in 2017. The coin commemorates the 375th anniversary of the scientist's birth. Recently ranking the second rarest 50p in circulation (behind the kew gardens 50p), how much is your Newton coin worth?

The Value of Sir Isaac Newton 50p

Released in circulation and brilliant uncirculated, this 50p is the only official UK coin to celebrate Isaac Newton. It has a mintage figure of 1.8 million. The incredible scientist is one of the most famous figures to ever hold the role of Master of the Mint.

Aaron West created the intricate reverse design. Aaron West based the design on the elements of Proposition 11 from Book One of Newton’s Principia Mathematica.

Right now, the value is not as high as many expect. Because even though it is considered a rare 50p coin, it is still considered a relatively new coin. Currently in the pockets of many unsuspected members of the public as loose change.

The circulated coin is currently worth around £2.50 and the brilliant uncirculated 50p is worth around £6.
