5 - Ghost Rider

Marvel Spotlight #5 was released in 1972. It featured the origin and first appearance of Ghost Rider and his love interest Roxanne Simpson.

Ghost Rider or Johnny Blaze witnesses two men killing someone else and decides he wants no part in what he has seen. The killers chase him, but when they see Rider's blazing skull, they run away. It then flashes back to determine how Johnny Blaze became Ghost Rider.

Collectors know this comic is difficult to find in mint or near mint condition, which makes its rarity even more eye-catching. This comic has previously sold for $264,000 or £197,000.

4 - Daredevil

Daredevil #1 came out in April 1964 and was the first appearance of Daredevil. He was one of the first wave of characters known as the Silver Age. We also see Foggy Nelson and Karen Page for the first time. The comic sold last year for $360,000 or £268,000.

The character has surges and dips in popularity compared to other superheroes such as Iron Man or Spider Man. The values often changes, but for collectors he is still am important part of any collection.

3 - Tales of Suspense

Marvel released Tales of Suspense issue #39 in 1963, titling it 'Iron Man is Born!'

It featured the first introduction to the now well known Iron Man or Tony Stark. Stark introduced an iron body suit with a chest plate that will keep the shrapnel at bay through the transistor-powered magnets. Thus creating the fan favourite Iron Man.

This comic recently sold for a whopping $2 million, with the lowest price it has sold at being no less than $100,000. This all depends on condition and legitimacy of the comic book itself.

2 - Marvel Original

Marvel Original Comic

One of the highest valued marvel comic books is actually the original issue 1 from 1939. This was the start of the Marvel Universe, it featured the Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner.

It was released so early that Stan Lee had not yet started writing for Marvel. Written by Al Anders, Carl Burgos, Bill Everett, Paul Gustavson and Ben Thompson.

This start of the Golden Age comic is now worth around an amazing $2,427,777. One of the most important, valuable and rare comics of all time.

1 - Amazing Fantasy

Amazing Fantasy

Our number one top spot is held by the Amazing Fantasy #15 from August 1962. This was Spider Man's first appearance and origin story. Peter Parker gains huge abilities from a radioactive spider, he must step up and try to become a hero.

A copy of the comic book sold at Heritage Auctions for $3.6 million. It originally sold for 12 cents (90p) in 1962 and was still in near perfect condition. This is the top level of value, if you have kept your comic books spic and span.
