The stories of Harry Potter are popular right around the world, so it's no surprise that there is a growing range of coins dedicated to the young wizard. Now The Royal Mint have issued multiple series of Harry Potter 50p coins, as our guide reveals.
In 2025, the Royal Mint announced their new collection of Harry Potter coins, however that wasn't the first time that Royal Mint had created a Harry Potter collection. The first collection was released in 2022 for the 25th anniversary of the publication of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Harry Potter 2022 50p Coin Collection
The first coins were revealed in October 2022.
The collectable coins' design features the work of Jim Kay, the artist who created the first fully illustrated edition of this Harry Potter story.
Many of the coins in the range also feature a ‘latent feature’ which rotates in the light to reveal a lightning bolt and the number ‘25’ to mark the anniversary year.
The collection also comprises of Harry Potter, the Hogwarts Express, Professor Dumbledore and Hogwarts School.

Since the coins are issued as collectable coins, their value is driven by collectability rather than rarity in change.
They tend to hold market value of roughly £5 to £15 for standard Brilliant Uncirculated. The coloured editions will be worth more as there are less of them produced.
The colour editions are around £25.

Harry Potter 2025 50p Coin Collection
This collection was made to celebrate iconic moments from the boy wizard's adventures. Released in four separate releases, the four coins depict scenes from the films all remastered by Bella Biggs, a product designer at The Royal Mint.
The full collection was made in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.
The Patronus
This limited edition colour coin celebrates an iconic scene from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It portrays Harry Potter practicing the Patronus Charm, a powerful defensive spell to repel Dementors.
The Flying Car
This design remasters an illustration of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley attempting to fly an enchanted Ford Anglia. Also depicted in colour.
The Black Lake
This colour coin is celebrating the scene from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where Harry Potter competes in the Triwizard Tournament. It celebrates courage and bravery with its detailled design.
Unfortunatley, this 50p is no longer available with Royal Mint, it would likely be found for sale on eBay but beware the prices are expected to be higher than what Royal Mint sold them for.
The Winged Keys
This coin features Harry Potter catching a winged key on his broomstick. This 50p coin is also no longer available at Royal Mint so eBay would be the place to look.
Whether you’re a dedicated collector or simply a fan of the wizarding world, Harry Potter 50p coins offer a unique way to own a small piece of magic.
