POST Luxembourg is marking National Day
This year, POST Luxembourg is marking National Day - celebrated on 23 June each year - in a truly special way by unveiling the country’s first 3D stamp. Issued as a limited edition of 1,000 copies, this innovative philatelic product is a reinterpretation of the definitive series philatelic block featuring HRH Grand Duke Guillaume.
A special edition of the new definitive series
On the occasion of the accession to the throne of HRH Grand Duke Guillaume in October 2025, POST Luxembourg issued a new definitive series in February and May 2026. Designed for daily postal use, the series includes stamps with various postage rates, a booklet and a philatelic block.
The original design of the block - combining a detail of the balcony of the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City, the Grand Duke’s monogram and his portrait - has now been transformed into the very first Luxembourg 3D stamp, offering philatelists a new collecting experience.
How does 3D printing for stamps work?
Produced by the Austrian company Hämmerle & Vogel, this block was created using an innovative technology: a liquid photopolymer was applied to the stamp sheets in extremely fine droplets, which were then hardened under UV light. Additional droplets were subsequently applied. Layer by layer, the monogram on the block gradually took shape. The final result is flexible, with a soft and pleasant surface.
