Conrad

Conrad have been busy over the last year with numerous new releases including the Liebherr TA230 articulated dumper, now in its third version since it was launched at Bauma along with the Liebherr MK88 construction crane, Vogele Super 300-2 tracked paver and Case CX240 long reach excavator. New models on the stand include a 1/50 scale Mercedes Benz Sprinter BF3 which features steering front axle, opening rear doors and folding escort panel, complete with replaceable warning signs. The Mitsubishi Canter vehicle is another new casting in 1/50 scale with rescue body, consisting of roll up side doors, fire extinguisher and hose reel and movable lift arm and wheel lift produced exclusively for VINCI. The Doll short timber transporter on an Actros 3-axle tractor with 2-axle trailer features a fully position-able Epsilon wood loading crane with folding seat and authentic wooden load, decorated in the Hammann livery and Sandvik have launched their fifth model, the TH550 underground hauler which is available in two versions, one exclusive to Sandvik and one through the usual Conrad dealer network featuring opening front and side engine grills, functional articulated steering and tipping body.

New truck models include a MAN TGL 2-axle truck with tipping body, a MAN TGX 2-axle tractor with 3-axle box trailer featuring opening rear cargo doors and painted in Liebherr decoration, a Mercedes Actros 3-axle truck with 2-axle trailer, both fitted with Meiller 3-way tipping bodies and a new decorated version of the Doll 5-axle trailer with MAN tractor in Hofmann livery to join the matching Liebherr LTM1070-4.1 mobile crane which was recently released. Additional new truck releases include a MAN TGX 3-axle truck with Palfinger PK50002 knuckle boom crane and flat bed in Schmidbauer decoration and a 4-axle MAN TGS with Palfinger PK100002 knuckle boom crane in Wiesbauer livery, with removable ballast box, fifth wheel coupling and front mounted stabiliser frame which is joined by the Wiesbauer painted Terex Demag AC100.

Fans of the big cranes will not be disappointed with the Liebherr LG1750 in the distinctive Nordic Crane Group decoration, complete with luffing jib, back mast and suspended counterweight tray and heavy haulage fans are catered for with the release of several rigs including the Goldhofer high girder bridge trailer with MAN TGX XXL 5-axle heavy duty prime mover with gooseneck coupling, two 6-line modules, a four line module, all with pivoting and lifting axles and a modular lifting bridge with width extension, all finished in the Kahl company decoration with a matching 5-axle MAN TGX XXL prime mover with ballast box and removable cover also available.

Bohnet have two models painted in their company livery, consisting of the MAN 4-axle heavy haul rig with ballast box and MAN TGX LKW 4-axle tractor with Goldhofer low bed trailer and new 3-axle and 4-axle modules and gooseneck. Both feature tilting cabs, steering axles and 5th wheel couplings with an adjustable deck.

Fans of the big scale fork lift trucks will be able to add two new Linde models to their collection with the CiTi One elevating pallet truck and the E20-E50 electric counterbalance forklift which has steering wheels, an opening battery compartment with removable battery and adjustable telescoping mast.

The highlight of the Conrad stand has to be the new Terex AC1000-9 9-axle telescopic crane which has been rumoured for a number of months. The nine section telescopic boom can be broken down to display in transport configuration with functional superlift arms, removable two-stage telescoping and pivoting outriggers with mountable counterweight rigging supports and transport fenders, not to mention the height and angle adjustable cab. The range of attachments has been increased with the release of road cones (available in red/white and yellow/black colours) and a set of alternating red and white barriers.

NZG

The biggest surprise on the NZG stand is that there are only a handful of new models with most of the items displayed consisting of previously released models in limited edition runs, painted in company decorations. There is however something for everyone from the crane fans who can look forward to the Liebherr LTM11200-9.1 in Havator livery or the LR1300 in Felbermayr and Van Marwijk colours which are supplied complete with derrick and wheeled counterweight carrier. Foundation equipment is covered with the Liebherr LB28 drill rig in Botte Foundation colours and the Ludwig Freytag version of the LRB255 piling rig with numerous liveried construction pieces including the Liebherr R916, A924 and R313 excavators, the PR764 in Kibag colours and the L586 in Franz Fischer, not to mention two painted versions of the Liebherr HS855 lattice crawler crane (Ballast Nedham and Implenia).

Paving fans have the Vogele Super 1803-2 wheeled paver in Frauenrath livery and the Jean Lefebvre painted Vogele Super 1900-2 tracked paver. Most of the decorations are of European companies with the exception of the second model decorated in the striking Malcolm Construction Services colours, the Terex TR60 which joins the previously released TA40 Articulated dumper.

Truck fans can look forward to numerous decorations of the MAN TGS 8x4 truck which is a new casting with Meiller tipping body, Liebherr concrete mixing body or halfpipe tipper including Otto, Drinkuth and Felbermayr paint schemes. Other new models from NZG include a 54 metre luffing jib to fit the Liebherr LTM11200 along with a 36m extension set. Collectors will have to have a very high ceiling to display this bit of kit fully erected. An addition to the Wirtgen Group model collection is the Hamm GRW280 rubber wheeled roller which is being produced in both enclosed cab and open ROPs versions and features an opening engine compartment and rotating and sliding seat and controls. Following the sale of the Terex construction excavator range, the 1/50 scale 225LC tracked and 140W wheeled excavators are now being released in the new Atlas corporate decoration.

Also on display in the NZG booth is a range of liveried Grove GMK and RT crane models which are produced by TWH Collectibles in a limited run of 150 pieces of each version, exclusive to NZG. Also displayed is the P&H 4100XPC mining rope shovel, featuring illuminating work lights and fully functional winches with excellent detailing throughout, as expected from TWH. In regards to new releases from TWH, nothing was announced during the show but they are busy working on a number of new models for future release.

WSI

WSI released the Hitachi ZX870 tracked excavator last year which raised the bar for all other manufacturers with the attention to detail and realism and it was no surprise to see another very highly detailed construction model on display. The Hamm HD110 has everything, from opening engine covers revealing the modelled engine block to the fully replicated cab detailing with rotate and slide seat and opening doors on the cab version. The 1/50 scale Scheuerle modular trailer system was another model on display demonstrating the various configurations that are possible. The modules and bed structures will allow a number of different models to be released over the next 12 months with the first release in the range looking the part while a limited edition 12-axle Scheuerle trailer with Mercedes Actros SLT tractor has recently been released in Mammoet colours.

YCC were missing from last year’s toyfair but were back with a bang this time round. New models include the stunning Gottwald AMK1000-103 in 1/50 scale which will be available in both Breuer and Riga Mainz decoration over the summer and come complete with the secondary 9-axle boom carrier. Attention to detail is second to none with the model fully demonstrating the functionality of the full sized crane very well. A Liebherr LG1550 SLK is available in Riga Mainz livery while a range of customising parts are available with new production runs of the items that have been out of stock for a while. The toy fair was a chance to highlight an upcoming model in the form of the 500 ton Krupp 500GMT mobile crane in the Grayston White & Sparrow decoration which is likely to be released during 2012.

Motorart

Motorart displayed the three new Volvo concept machines that were announced back at Bauma last year. All three are highly detailed 1/50 scale replicas with many functional aspects that demonstrate the concepts and forward thinking of the Volvo engineers and designers. Also new is the Volvo EC700C high reach demolition rig with extending undercarriage, tilting cab, opening engine covers and movable boom, stick and attachment while the new JCB 330 wheeled skid steer loader in 1/5 scale rounds out the latest from Motorart.

Norscot

Norscot displayed the range of models recently launched and detailed in the news section this month. While there were no new announcements at the toy fair, there are two new 1/50 scale models being launched at the ConExpo show in March with several more 1/50 scale and at least one 1/87 scale construction piece due throughout the year.

Universal Hobbies

No new models were displayed on the Universal Hobbies stand although there are some new 1/50 scale pieces planned for release throughout the year including the introduction of a new OEM model along with New Holland and Komatsu releases. Two small 1/12 scale Wacker Neuson models were detailed, consisting of the BS60 vibrating compactor plate and the EH25 electric breaker which is supplied with a transport frame and different drill attachments.

BYMO

The 1/50 scale Komatsu PC8000 from Bymo is in full production and should be appearing soon while the next item scheduled for release is the Komatsu D355 pipe layer which should be available later in the year, followed by the Bauer RTG RG21T and Michigan wheel loader. There was no information of any further new releases for this year.

Ertl

Ertl have released details of several new 1/16 scale skid steer loaders. The New Holland C238 tracked skid steer and L255 wheeled skid steer are joined by the 1/16 scale Case SV250 wheeled skid steer and TV380 tracked loader. All four models feature working boom arms and bucket.

Joal

The only new announcements from Joal are the 1/35 scale JCB midi CX backhoe loader, available in both centre mount and sideshift versions with removable rear backhoe frame, detailed cab interior, working front loader arms and 4-in-1 removable bucket which is joined by the Manitou MSI-30T K-series lift truck, again available in either pallet fork or tipping bucket versions.

Others

The previously announced Mack Granite rigid truck with flatbed tipper and Entyre bodies from Sword Precision Scale models are scheduled for release over the summer while new models will be announced later in the year. Ros had a number of new agricultural models on display on their booth but there are currently no new construction releases. Fans of the Bucyrus historic models will be happy to hear that the next release in the EMD line is scheduled for mid year, based on the 22BE / 22RB with lattice boom, dragline bucket and clamshell.
