We recap some of the star lots that have gone under the hammer at auction recently...

Bassett-Lowke O Gauge 4-6-2 Loco and Tender LMS maroon Duchess Class "Duchess of Montrose" No.6232, 3-rail electric. Loco appears to have had little running, additional weights professionally added to the front bogie and rear pony units, line of black overpainting to the underside of the rear of the cab roof. Tender couplings refixed and additional weight added to the tender. Overall paint work is Excellent to Excellent Plus all contained in a Good Plus box with instructions. Sold for £700, Vectis, January.

Bassett-Lowke O Gauge 4-6-0 Loco and Tender LMS black "Royal Scot" No.6100, 3-rail electric. Locomotive front and tender rear couplings refixed. Loco appears little used Near Mint in Excellent box with instructions. Sold for £950, Vectis, January.

Bassett-Lowke O Gauge 2-6-4 LMS Stanier Tank lined black No.2603, 3-rail electric. Some light wear to some edges, coal added to bunker back otherwise Excellent to Excellent Plus, tear to box lid corner otherwise Excellent and includes instructions. Sold for £500, Vectis, January.

Bassett-Lowke O Gauge 2-6-0 Loco and Tender LMS lined black No.2945, 3-rail electric. Possibly from a steam body this loco and tender have been repainted, lined and transferred with running number 2945 to cab side and LMS lettering to tender sides. Coal has been added to the tender contained in a Excellent Bassett-Lowke "Mogul" box. Sold for £340, Vectis, January.

Bassett-Lowke or similar O Gauge 4-6-0 Loco and Tender Great Western lined green Castle Class "Dunster Castle" No.4093. Built in the Bassett-Lowke style with a 6-coupled Bassett-Lowke mechanism and finished in lined GWR green with Dunster Castle nameplate over middle splasher, running number 4093 to cab side and Great Crest Western to tender sides. An interesting loco and a good addition to any GWR stud. All contained in a Bassett-Lowke LMS Duchess box. Excellent. Sold for £750, Vectis, January.

Bachmann OO Gauge 32-850Z (Limited Edition) 2-10-0 BR black 9F Class Loco No.92240,  complete with certificate No.157 of 504 produced for Modelzone, this is a factory weathered edition, condition Excellent in generally Good to Good Plus box. Sold for £120, Vectis, January.

Bachmann OO Gauge 31-921 4-4-2 BR lined black (ex LBSCR) H2 Atlantic Class No.32424 "Beachy Head", complete with a pack of etched nameplates for optional fitment, condition Excellent Plus to Near Mint in Excellent Plus to Near Mint box. Sold for £130, Vectis, January.

Bachmann OO Gauge 31-460 0-6-0 South East & Chatham Railway lined green livery C Class No.952, front coupling not fitted but is in box with other detailing items, condition Near Mint to Mint in Excellent Plus to Near Mint box. Sold for £160, Vectis, January.

OO Gauge Kitbuilt DJH K41 4-6-2 BR green Britannia Class No.70033 "Charles Dickens", small paint chip to left side smoke deflector and centre sand box on left side running plate, professionally built and painted, condition Excellent. Sold for £130, Vectis, January.

OO Gauge Kitbuilt 0-4-2 LNWR plain black Box Tank No.3473, fitted with portescap type motor, right side cab footstep detached but is in box, nicely built and painted, condition Excellent. Sold for £130, Vectis, January.

OO Gauge Kitbuilt DJH K85 4-6-2 BR green rebuilt Battle of Britain Class Loco No.34085 "501 Squadron", fitted with portescap type motor, superbly built and painted, condition Excellent. Sold for £140, Vectis, January.

OO Gauge Kitbuilt 4-4-0 GWR green Dean 3300 Bulldog Class with straight double frames No.3448 "Kingfisher", wired through to tender for extra pick-up on nearside wheels, nicely built and painted, condition Excellent. Sold for £120, Vectis, January.

Kitbuilt white metal OO Gauge 4-6-0 Loco and Tender Southern green N15 Class "Cudworth" No.2330. Well built and painted, fitted with a portescap or similar motor. Good Plus to Excellent.    Sold for £170, Vectis, January.

Wills Finecast OO Gauge Kitbuilt 4-4-0 Loco and Tender Southern lined green Class T9 No.E426.  Well built and painted. Excellent. Sold for £80, Vectis, January.

Hornby Dublo 2-rail 2050 SR green Suburban Electric Train Set, containing Power Car, Non Power Trailer Car with dummy 3rd rail pick-up shoes and circle of track plus instruction booklet dated 4/62, some minor rusting to none driving end of trailer car, conditions are Good to Good Plus in Fair to Good box base with inserts but lid is Poor to Fair with repairs to all corners. Sold for £160, Vectis, January.

Hornby Dublo 2-rail 2007 SR Tank Passenger Train Set, containing 0-6-0 BR green R1 Class Tank No.31340, 2 x SR green tinplate short bogie coaches (Composite and Brake 2nd) along with oval of track, instruction booklet dated 11/59 and 2-rail track formation handbook, some paint loss to rear buffer beam on tank loco, minor marks to sides of tinplate coaches but conditions are generally Good to Good Plus in Fair to Good box base with inserts, lid is also Fair to Good with one split corner and repairs to others. Hornby Dublo 2-rail 2050 SR green Suburban Train Set, comprising Power Car, Non Power Trailer Car with 3rd rail dummy pick-up shoes, circle of track along with power clip and part used tube of oil plus instruction booklet dated 4/62 and application form for membership of Hornby Railway Company. Some rusting to right hand side of non power trailer car, condition Fair to Good, power car is Good to Good Plus, all are contained in Good Plus to Excellent box base with inserts but lid is Poor to Fair with repairs to corners. Bachmann Brassworks O Gauge BR black 43928 Fowler Class 4F 0-6-0 locomotive and tender No BW016, this was unpainted as sold, but now painted with decals and numbers added by owner, 1 cab hand rail detached at 1 end, otherwise about mint in nearly excellent box. F.M. Models (Korea) O Gauge BR green 92220 Evening Star 9f Class 2-10-0 locomotive and tender, additionally fitted with Loksound V4.0 Decoder and smoke unit, mint in about mint box, with copy of original 2016 receipt. Sold for £1300, Warwick and Warwick, January.

A Wrenn W2207 R1 class steam tank locomotive, in SR Green, numbered 1127, very good in a good to very good box. Sold for £50, Excalibur Auctions, January.
