The first of a new range of high-end collectables based on the BBC’s flagship TV series, ‘Doctor Who’, is to be released by Big Chief Studios Ltd.
The inaugural piece for the company’s exciting license deal, which will include a range of articulated figures and mixed media statues from both the new and classic series, is this highly detailed figure of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, pictured left.
The figure, which has been created in 1/6 scale, has been articulated for maximum poseability and features an authentic hand-painted character portrait, finely tailored costuming, signature accessories and a themed display base.
The figure is due for release in December 2011 or January 2012, and will come with an RRP of £149.99.
For an extra £20 Big Chief is also offering an exclusive Signature Edition version of the Eleventh Doctor figure signed by Smith himself. Availability of the Signature Edition figure is strictly limited to only 250 pieces. Each figure will come with a hand-signed autograph plaque, display stand and a certificate of authenticity.
As the range expands the Doctor will be joined by a similarly well-detailed figure of his companion, Amy Pond (played by Karen Gillan), with additional 1/6 scale collectables of Rory Williams and River Song also in the pipeline. The range also promises a selection of key monsters and aliens.
