Construction toy buffs were well served by a lovely Meccano four drawer wooden cabinet. Labelled Outfit No.10, with a boxed Outfit No.6 thrown in for good measure, there was additionally a boxed clockwork motor and sundry other items included in this lot. This excellent selection sold for a creditable £950.
Large scale locos still rule the roost (or should that be the rails?). A Hornby O gauge 20 volt 3 Rail Special 0-4-0 tank locomotive in the rare LNER lined black livery sold very well on the day for £675.

Other Hornby items of note included a Dublo 3 Rail EDL2 4-6-2 Duchess of Atholl, which found a buyer happy to pay £240 (plus additional fees), while another Hornby Dublo 3 Rail example, the 4-6-0 Ludlow Castle, sold for the same money, plus premium and VAT.

Marine fare wasn’t overlooked either: an early all-metal Sutcliffe Speedboat that dated from the 1920s wasn’t in exactly pristine condition but it was a rare survivor and was especially interesting because the cardboard box had also survived the ravages of time. Plenty of interest was displayed in this pond-going transport, which finally petered out at £675.
Finally, for sci-fi and comic book fans, the Corgi No. 267 Batmobile was a must: box, instructions, missiles mostly on the sprue and all the paperwork and backdrop were present, making this a desirable addition to one collector’s cabinet. It was finally knocked down for £360.

Holy smoke, Batman!
