Highlights from Lacy, Scott and Knight's Autumn sale

Lacy, Scott and Knight recently held its Autumn Toy and Models sale. Included in the auction on 19 November, were many Meccano, diecast and tinplate items, as well as over 800 lots to interest those with more than just a passing interest in trains and railwayana.
Two of the top selling lots on the day were a 3.5 inch gauge 0-4-0 Saddle Tank Locomotive and a 3.5 inch gauge LNER Class A1/A3 Locomotive and Tender.

The 0-4-0 Saddle Tank Locomotive, finished in green and red was named "Lilla". It comprised a tubed copper boiler, twin outside cylinders actuated via Stephensons valve gear and had easy access to back head controls. The model also included a sight glass, pressure gauge, regulator, safety, hand operated brake, drain cocks and tubes, hand operated water tank, whistle and other expected fittings. It was sold with a 4-wheel L&BR wagon, finished in grey and black with water tank situated inside. The estimate of £1500 – 2000 was beaten when the hammer fell at £2,200.

Lot 28 was the very well engineered 3.5 inch gauge LNER Class A1/A3 Locomotive and Tender, finished in LNER green with No.113 to cab sides, and named "Great Northern". The locomotive was fitted with 2 outside and 1 inside cylinders, and actuated via Walschaerts Valve Gear. This lot also came complete with a LNER 8 wheel fully braked water tender. When bidding finished, this loco sold for and impressive £2,600.
