Thunderbirds were go!

The recent Barry Hawkins sale would have delighted any Gerry and Sylvia Anderson fan, for an entire range of JR 21 Thunderbird models went under the hammer. A top bid of £130 was enough to capture the desirable friction-powered TB 2 with pod, whilst £120 secured the battery-operated TB 1, which was also complete with its original box. A bit less (£100) was bid on the friction drive TB 3 whilst TB 5 and TB 4 also put in an appearance. Condition of all the Jack Rosenthal models was exceptional.

Other sci-fi and space-related toys did well: notable amongst the lots sold was the 1960s Alps Japanese robot with a television screen on his chest: he came with a good box and antenna intact, and was pushed all the way to £260. Bidding tailed off at £90 for another Japanese tinplate confection, this a flying saucer with pilot, again with its box; and the same money was enough to buy a Japanese Atom Rocket 7, complete with antenna and correct packaging.

Arguably, the star lot of the day had to be the assortment of Action Man items that included dolls, leaflets, clothes and accessories: this job lot realised £360.
