Wessex Auction Rooms held a two day event in November, and bidding was brisk for the collectables over the period in question, with some excellent prices achieved.

Diecast miniatures, particularly the short-lived lines such as Tri-ang, seem to heading up and up. The Wessex boxed Spot-On model No .195, a rallying Volkswagen saloon in pale blue/green, was an excellent example and roared away to make £360. On more familiar (and longer-lived) territory was the Corgi Renault Floride. This particular example, in metallic blue with a striking red interior, was again in superb condition and realised a healthy £220. Once (accurately!) described as a Renault Dauphine in a party frock, the real thing is quite scarce on the roads today.

For the female contingent, a boxed 1960s Hong Kong-made Sindy Doll stood out. She came with her stand, her original clothing and associated booklets, plus an additional wardrobe of vintage clothing. Quite a fetching little lady, and someone wanted her enough to bid a closing £260. Finally, if you thought Ninja Turtles were for children, think again. An original boxed Playmates/Bandai Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtle Blimp II (to give it the full description) fetched a remarkable £220. All hot air? No indeed...
