Autumn toy sale at Brettells of Newport
Brettells of Newport, Shropshire held their Autumn Toy Sale in conjunction with their regular weekly sale on 18 October. The 200 lot entry of toys attracted a large crowd in the saleroom as well as on line, and included a substantial single entry of many new and boxed railway items. Top price in this section went to a new boxed Bachmann Spectrum G Gauge Two Truck Shay, which sold at £260; whilst a Bachmann G Gauge 2-8-0 Royal George Herald was knocked down for £200. The top O Gauge price of the day was £130 that was paid for a Hornby clockwork LMS 4-4-2T; while OO Gauge locomotives topping the bill included two selling at £85, which would have secured you a Hornby R2316 and a Bachmann Sir Guy Williams.
Away from the railway items, diecast toys did well, with £200 for a collection of boxed Solido tanks and military vehicles. Lego sets were in demand, with £160 bid for the Space Track Monorail Set 6990; and a German tinplate novelty money bank led the vintage toys, settling on £120.
Brettells’ next toy sale is scheduled for 22 March 2017.
