Derbyshire based promotional model vehicle specialist, Search Impex, has announced the release of a 1/50 scale Iveco Stralis (6x2) tractor unit and 3 axle, curtain trailer, customised in the distinctive livery of Scottish operator Andrew Black Haulage Ltd.

The models have been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles as a certificated Limited Edition (155 pieces).

Established in 1958, by Andrew Black, in Drem, North Berwick, the business was originally sited behind his own home and focused on agricultural contracting.  Increasingly, Andrew Black received requests to organise the moving of agricultural products and produce, which proved to be the catalyst to invest, in 1961, in a truck of his own (a new bullnosed Thames Trader) and so Andrew Black Haulage & Storage was born.

Since then, whilst the Company may not have moved far geographically (to be precise, about a mile down the road to offices and a depot on the site of the former Drem airfield), commercially it has come on a very long way. Andrew Black Haulage & Storage remains a family run business but nowadays boasts a fleet of 25 trucks (predominantly Iveco) and a variety of trailers, including flats, potato bulkers, bulk tippers and tautliners and even a low loader.  Storage is also an important part of the Company’s service – with two of the airfield’s former Spitfire hangars having been converted to high spec warehousing providing some 37,000 sq ft of capacity. Much of the haulier’s work retains links to the agricultural sector and bulk haulage of agricultural produce, including the distribution throughout the UK of, amongst other things, bagged fertiliser and cement.

Models, available from Search Impex, are priced at £140 each (including UK delivery & VAT). For details of availability of this and other models, collectors can visit the Search Impex website at www.search-impex.co.uk or call on 01332 873 555.
