Rare Wrecker makes a mint

Star of the 27 September Vectis auction had to be the Matchbox Regular Wheels No.13d Dodge BP Wreck Truck. This was an unlisted Stannard Code model, with green cab and jib but without front silver trim. It was the very rare reversed colour model version, but for good measure this example was fitted with an amber roof light, along with the usual red plastic hook, 45 tread black plastic wheels and crimped axles. Billed as near mint with a couple of tiny factory assembly paint chips in a near mint type E4 box, this example dated from 1970. Estimated at £5,000-6,000, bidders pushed the wrecker to a staggering £6,240.
