"Gina" is confirmed as first release of new Typhoon model

The prospect of the stunning new 1/48 scale tooling by Corgi of the Eurofighter Typhoon just got even more exciting with the release of this artist's render in Michael Clegg's Diecast Diaries blog on its website. This will be the third release in the larger scale for the jets, launched in January 2017, following the success of the English Electric Lightning F.6 and the McDonnell Douglas Phantom.

Wearing the stunning Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary commemorative scheme displayed by RAF No.29(R) Squadron Typhoon FGR.4 ZK349, for the duration of the 2015 Airshow season (affectionately referred to as "Gina", thanks to its markings),it will certainly make for an amazing model on display. The aircraft was a firm fans' favourite and there was even a movement to petition the RAF not to return the aircraft to its low-visibility scheme! So this is sure to be a popular model upon release. The petition was not successful, however, and the special livery was removed in 2017.

With a wingspan of 232mm, thanks to the increase in scale to 1/48, the model will certainly stand out. Priced at £149.99, and due to land later this year, it can be pre-ordered at www.corgi.co.uk, or contact your preferred retailer.
