Mickey Mouse at Vectis
Hands up if you would pay £960 for a one-eared mouse? Well, several hands did go up - and someone paid handsomely for the rodent at the Vectis Tinplate, Plastic and General Toy sale in September. The mouse was Mickey, made by Japanese company Paradise, and this example was called the Mickey Jolly Cart. A rare, pre-war celluloid and tinplate clockwork toy, it featured Mickey sitting on a green and woodgrain effect cart with blue pressed steel wheels, pulled by a celluloid Pluto. The clockwork motor still functioned!
