Action Man makes a return
One of the most collectable action figures marks his 50th anniversary.
Action Man was something of a powerhouse from the 1960s right through until the ‘90s. Over a 30-year period hundreds of outfits and accessories were available from every military uniform imaginable to outfits for astronauts, divers, pilots, skiers, parachutists, firemen and sportsmen. To celebrate the 50th anniversary (which, admittedly, was last year) of Action Man, Art + Science International, under license from Hasbro, Inc, are launching a specially developed range of handmade Collectors Edition Action Man figures.
The 50th anniversary Action Soldier, Footballer, British Infantryman, Ski Patrol, Paratrooper and Scuba Diver figures are available to buy now. With an RRP from £34.99, the figures are available from a number of leading UK high street, independent and online retailers. The 50th Anniversary collection will be available until Autumn 2017, and new additions to the limited edition range will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Collector Editions are inspired by the best of the Action Man brand and will feature accessories, gripping hands, the realistic “flock” hair and the famous scar.
Each Action Man figure will be presented in a special gift box, along with the iconic Action Man dog tag and booklet. To embrace the heritage of the brand, the packaging artwork includes illustrations from the original Action Man artist, Douglas Hart.
“This unique range has been developed for the gift and collector’s market and we hope that it triggers many fond memories from everyone’s childhood play, including my own! Through these product releases we hope to capture the very best of the Action Man brand”, said Peter Rooke, Managing Director of Art + Science International.
