Although many of the headlines from Vectis' big TV and film auction were taken up by news of the excellent Star Wars lots, the sale also included some very nice diecast pieces. Top of this list was a rare Corgi 'Tarzan' Land Rover, which was finished in a mid/dark metallic green with black stripes, deep yellow interior and grey base with Whizzwheels. Unlike the standard Corgi Land Rover (as seen in the Daktari set) this version didn't have a spare wheel fitted to the bonnet. The replica was released in the 1970s as a promotional offer for those who bought Quake Up cereals and even came in its original mailaway box. Estimated at £400 to £500, it sold for £640.

Talking of rare models, another lot that caught the eye was a Dinky pre-production version of John Steed's Jaguar from The Avengers (pictured). Finished in metallic blue, with a black interior, gold side stripe, chrome hubs and Jonh Steed figure, the car was factory sealed on later issue presentation blister card. Arguably not much to look at, this didn't deter the bidders, who pushed the hammer price to £3,000 - just over the top estimate of £2,800.

Finally, another TV and film piece rounded off this fantastic sale. The Corgi Juniors Crime Busters Gift Set No. 3008 was enough to put the wind up any bad guy, as it featured the car from The Man from UNCLE, James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 and Batman's Batmobile with Batboat on trailer. This was an absolutely top notch piece, so it should come as no surprise to hear it doubled its lowest estimate to achieve £1,000.
