Chris Dyer’s upcoming toy fair in Cardiff will go on as planned at the Penarth Leisure Centre, despite it being temporarily closed after a fire broke out in its sauna. The event organiser has been flooded with calls from traders and collectors who are worried about his upcoming 19th April fair being potentially cancelled by the blaze.

“I have been swamped with calls from anxious people following the fire but I am assured that all will be back to normal well in advance of our date and the show will not be affected by the situation,” he told us.

As such the Cardiff Toy & Train Sale will go ahead as planned on 19th April from 10.30am until 3pm at the Penarth Leisure Centre, Andrew Road, CF64 2NS. There will be more than 100 tables packed with quality stock, old and new, from up to 50 of the UK’s top traders. Admission is £1.85 or £1.45 for concessions.

Meanwhile, Chris has reported a bumper show at his recent Monmouth Toy & Train Sale, with the best-ever attendance and brisk trade. There were plenty of fantastic items brought in by visitors on the day, including a collection of 18 Dinky Toys Foden trucks and tankers, while another punter brought in a nice selection of boxed Corgi models from the 1960s – all of which were snapped up by stallholders.

Another local collector took in and sold a collection of 1970s mint and box Britains Farm series, Wild West items and more, along with some rare Corgi Gift Sets. Chris added: “Some great finds from an affluent part of the UK and I have a feeling there may be more to come…”
