The Trains, Planes & Automobiles auction proved as interesting as ever, with a variety of international toys coming up for grabs.

Typical of the fare was a German Schuco 4000 tinplate clockwork Girato Mercedes 250SE. Some 240mm long, it came with its key and running motor, although the latter required some attention. Light damage to the paintwork on one side was also recorded. Billed as good to very good, in a very good box, its pre-sale guideline of AUS$40-80 was quickly passed, the car making a respectable AUS$220.

On to French fare: the Les Jouets Citroën steel clockwork Transformable Utility Truck dated from  the 1930s, and offered a choice of four backs: a flatbed, trailer, tipper or tanker. The truck was fitted with electric headlights and was supplied with its original key. Again, the motor required attention but the truck still retained its screwdriver and the various nuts and bolts for attaching the backs. A little paint loss was logged, and some pieces bore evidence of a few repairs; the number plate was also detached from trailer. At 390mm long it was described as in very good condition and came in a very good original box, with inserts and stringing. It carried a high estimate (AUS$3,000 upwards) but actually sold for AUS$2,300.

Rather odder was the New South Wales Department of Railways Coat of Arms decal. Some 570mm wide, it was on backing paper, and was unused. This sold for AUS$90.

A Ferris (Australia) O gauge NSWGR 36 Class 4-6-0 locomotive, bearing No. 3602 also sold well. This was tender-driven but sadly was missing the tender. In very good condition, it was a popular lot, finally achieving AUS$290.

We end on more railway-related ephemera: the Robilt (again Australian) O gauge clockwork No. 52 Goods Set comprised a 0-4-0 locomotive and tender (No. 30) in maroon;  a four wheel Tank Wagon with the "Shell" logo; a four wheel Open Wagon; and circle of track with brass rails. The locomotive motor had an adjustable governor, was complete with key and running, but needed some attention. A little paint loss and a spot or two of rust were also recorded. Overall, the set was in good condition (given its age) and was presented in a good original box. It sold for AUS$390.
