The Royal Mint has announced the sell-out of its 2009 Piedfort 2012 Olympic Countdown Coin – part of the best-selling Olympic coin programme in history.

All 6,000 of the 2009 Piedfort Countdown coins have sold out, while sales of the gold and silver Proof Countdown coins have been progressing well.

Dave Knight, Director of Commemorative Coins at the Royal Mint, said: ‘We are extremely pleased with the way the Countdown Coin range has been embraced by collectors around the world. Demand has been strong and this is sure to increase as we get closer to 2012.’
