The Wallis & Wallis Toy Auction held on Monday 4th October at Lewes, Sussex, offered a wide range of diecast vehicles, model figures, planes, ships and trains with some strong selections of well-loved items plus some rarer pieces.

The biggest price of the day went to the final lot, a 1934/35 Dinky 28 Series Van 28K in dark green livery bearing the legend ‘Marsh’s Sausages’. This was in almost mint condition with solid metal wheels with a lilac metal finish. It reached a hammer price of £1,800 (this price, like the others in this report, was subject to a buyer’s premium of 17.5% plus VAT).

Another pair of Dinky ‘high flyers’ were two Avro Vulcan Delta Wing Bombers (749), both 2nd type with clipped wings, which sold for £560 and £700 respectively. A Dinky Supertoys Foden Flat Truck with tailboard (503) reached £720, while a Supertoys Guy Van with ‘Lyons Swiss Rolls’ legend sold for £600. A Dinky Supertoys American export issue Auto Transporters Car Carrier (989) went for £560.
