The excellent Hornby O gauge railway collection of lifelong enthusiast Brian Hollins was sold at auction by Halls of Shrewsbury on 16th June.

Brian, who died last October, lived locally and had built up his superb collection over a period of more than 70 years. In doing so he became an acknowledged authority on the subject of pre-war Hornby. When not collecting trains, he was busy working as a senior film editor with the former British TV company ATV.

In the auction catalogue foreword, Mr Hollins’ children, Nicky and Peter wrote: ‘The beauty of these nostalgic, colourful models is easy for anyone to appreciate, but for a true collector it can become a lifelong passion. Our father, was one such man.’...
