The Great British Bear Company release H.R.H. Prince William Bear and Hermann Spielwaren release Royal Engagement Bear. ...
It’s no secret that teddy bear manufacturers love having an occasion to celebrate. Teddies, after all, are the ultimate ‘feel good’ collectable so they make the perfect commemorative souvenir for any notable event.
As one of the most high profile, positive news stories to hit the headlines in recent months, the engagement of Prince William to Kate Middleton, has given bear companies the opportunity to go to town with their special commemorative teds.
A particularly creative example comes from The Great British Bear Company in the guise of H.R.H. Prince William Bear. This handsome chap wears full ‘Royal Bear Force’ dress uniform and carries a beautiful crimson leather ring box which is embossed with the names of the happy couple and the date of their wedding.
Inside the box is a gold-plated replica of the famous sapphire and diamond engagement ring which has been engraved with the wording, ‘H.R.H. Prince William & Catherine Middleton, April 29th 2011’.
Prince William Bear will be available as a limited edition of 5,000 and will come with a numbered certificate signed by Paul Jessup, Managing Director of The Great British Bear Company.
Long established German teddy bear company Hermann Spielwaren has also paid tribute to the engagement with a special commemorative bear. Its fully jointed Royal Engagement Bear measures 13¾in high and is made from curly white mohair. It is available in a limited edition of just 250.
