Lansdowne Austin Cambridge

One of the most eagerly-awaited new releases in the Lansdowne range, it does not disappoint.

Introduced in February 1957, the A55 Cambridge was a recognisable development of the A50 model that came in late 1954 to replace the A40 Somerset. The most notable feature of the new A55 was the longer rear end which increased the car’s overall length by 5in and gave a much greater luggage capacity.

The new Lansdowne is well cast with all the details there and the stance of the original being well-caught. Rather than go for the two-tone, Lansdowne has opted for a single colour, ‘Tweed Grey’, an attractive mid-shade.

There are plenty of plated details to lift the overall appearance, including the grille with its surround, the lights, the waist trim, the hubcaps, door handles, bonnet ornament/catch, windscreen wipers, boot hinges and rear numberplate surround. The wheels are in authentic off-white and look in good proportion.
