A large private owner collection, the David Ireland Collection, of quality pre and post-war Dinky Toys is to be auctioned by Vectis on Tuesday 22nd November.

Included in the sale at Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, is one of the largest collections of high quality, boxed pre-war Gift Sets that Vectis has offered for sale. There will be six variations of Set 24 and five variations of Set 25, plus others.

Other highlights include some 45 Type 1, 2 and 3 delivery vans including a rare 28a 1st Type ‘Hornby Trains’ in orange and a No 22 Closed Sports Coupé in blue and yellow. Additional pre-war issues include commercials, cars and aircraft.

In the post-war section there is a selection of Fodens, including AEC, Bedford, Guy Van, flat trucks and others. Delivery vans in this section include a Dinky 950 Foden pre-production in blue and white, and a Dinky Toys No 944 Leyland Octopus Tanker ‘Sweeteners For Industry’.

Other items in this sale are boxed and unboxed cars, buses, commercials and accessories.
