There were some exceptional models across the board in the Cottees of Wareham, Dorset, Collectable Toy & Model Railway Sale held on Saturday 17th September. The top price of the day was £1,400 paid for a Lehmann ‘Masuyama’ German lithographed hand-painted clockwork toy of a coolie pulling a rickshaw containing a lady passenger with floral parasol. ...

There were some exceptional models across the board in the Cottees of Wareham, Dorset, Collectable Toy & Model Railway Sale held on Saturday 17th September.

The top price of the day was £1,400 paid for a Lehmann ‘Masuyama’ German lithographed hand-painted clockwork toy of a coolie pulling a rickshaw containing a lady passenger with floral parasol, which twirls when the rickshaw is moved forwards. This was in an original, though incompletme box.

An excellent example of a Hornby O gauge Control System with boxed six-lever frame, two No 2E home signals and four rodding traverses, reached £980.

In the OO section the popular Tri-ang Hornby ‘The Railway Children’ train set with GN&SR liveried ‘Jinty’ 0-6-0T made £130. A Hornby WD grey livery 8F 2-8-0 No 300, a Much Ado About Toys limited edition model with certificate, sold at £120.

As ever, Corgi Gift Sets sold well with a Set No 38, 1965 Monte Carlo Rally, comprising a Mini Cooper S, a Rover 2000 and a Citroen DS19 making £650. A Set No 40, The Avengers, reached £560. A mint in near mint box Tri-ang Spot-On 281 Speeding Red MG Midget Mk 2 set sold for £190, while a rare Tomica Dandy FO1 1/43 scale JCB 3D, mint in near mint box, made £180.

A most impressive, complete Britains Set 73 of Royal Horse Artillery, Life Guards, Royal Scots Greys, 17th Lancers, Royal Norfolk Regiment, Black Watch and Battle of the Line, 67 mint or near mint pieces in a two-tray display box, went for £750. A Britains Model Farm No 128F Fordson Major Tractor with rubber wheels sold for £100.

Cottees’ next on-site Collectable Toy & Model Railway Sale is to be held on Saturday 10th December.
