Salisbury Collectors’ Show, 19 and 20 May 2017

This month sees the return of the popular Salisbury Collectors’ Show, set to be held on 19 and 20 May at the City Hall in the heart of Salisbury.

The show is organised by long established dealers Dauwalders of Salisbury, and more than forty dealers will be on hand to offer a wide array of stamps, postcards and coins.

Stamp dealer and event organiser Paul Dauwalder said: ‘Salisbury is one of the top visitor cities in the UK. Last year many collectors stayed overnight to enjoy some of the local sights. There is always something on in Salisbury to interest a non-stamp or coin collector. Mompesson House is a wonderful historic property managed by the National Trust and situated within the Cathedral Close, just across from it lies the The Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum. Salisbury is surrounded by historical sites, the army and the air force with garrisons at Tidworth and Larkhill and an airbase at Boscombe Down. In the Cathedral Close is of course Britain’s largest cathedral which goes back nearly 1,000 years.’

The annual stamp event is also used to promote stamp collecting to youngsters. ‘Last year local schools were invited to get involved with competitions for stamp design and the results were stunning,’ Paul said. ‘This year the national stamp charity Stamp Active are taking up the stage area in the City Hall. At the show the stage area will provide free stamps, goodie bags and activities for all young collectors. There will be opportunities for children (and parents) to design a stamp try out some fun games and win prizes on the day all for free.’

Children can also receive a special gift from the organisers (Dauwalders) if they apply online. Please claim your gift and collect at the show on Saturday.

Salisbury Collectors’ Show takes place on Friday 19 May (11am-5pm) and Saturday 20 May (10am to 4pm) at the City Hall, Salisbury SP2 7TU. For further information including a show programme of participants please contact Steph Beattie on tel: 01722 412100; e-mail.
