The Porsche 911 GT3 was a key moment for the german brand. They had left behind their trademark air-cooled engine and this upset the brand’s aficionados… massively. They needed their new water-cooled cars to gain mass appeal and to be seen as more dominant than ever before. They did this by developing a car to appeal to privateer racing teams as a turn-key racing car. So the GT3 and GT3 R were born. Lightweight, stripped out and powered by an easy to drive and service flat six engine, they became the machine of choice for endurance racing. As a result, there was a plethora of different liveries available to be modelled and Minichamps stepped up to the mark to produce as many as possible on their superb casting of the car. In part one of our exhaustive roundup of these magnificent models, we will guide you through the genesis of the breed and some of the early racing liveries.

Still with fast cars, we managed to have a drive in a De Tomaso Pantera! It inspired us to round up as many fine models of this V8 powered supercar – its a great collecting subject, with models available in most scales.

Built for soaking up motorway miles, BMMO’s C5 coach was an incredibly powerful machine – it arrived just in time for the dawn of the motorway age and Corgi’s models of this superb vehicle are well worth examination. We guide you through the different releases and tell the story of this ground breaking coach.

Corgi’s James Bond Aston Martin DB5 is almost as much of an icon as the real thing. This year it celebrates not just one but two special birthdays – we explain why.

All this plus the latest news from the world of diecast models, our round up of auction results and 11 pages of new model releases – no other UK magazine reviews more
