All this talk of ‘Brexit’ has not dissuaded the San Marino ‘Ufficio Filatelico e Numismatico’ office from issuing a new Euro coin honouring English writer William Shakespeare.

The new €2 coin celebrates the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare and features a portrait of the Bard by Matt Bonaccorsi, surrounded by the familiar stars of the European Union.

Issued on 22 September, the coin is copper-nickel, has a weight of 8.5g and a diameter of 25.75mm.

A total of 80,000 coins will be issued, and the coins will be sold, together with a special presentation case, for €16.
