My passion for Formula 1 was at its peak in the early eighties and I have to confess that Monsieur Arnoux was a bit of a hero of mine.

I saw him race on many occasions but my favourite was the 1983 Race of Champions held at Brands Hatch, my local circuit. This turned out to be the last ever non-championship Formula 1 race to be run, something that had been quite a regular occurrence 'back in the day'.

Arnoux was entered in this 126 C2B and took the lead on the first lap, much to my delight. But tyre problems meant that he soon dropped back and eventually retired.

GP Replicas recreation of Arnoux's 1983 ride is quite simply one of the best resincast models I have ever had the pleasure of reviewing. The detail is absolutely astonishing and the finish to the paintwork is perfect. The graphics are printed beautifully, right down to the car's racing numbers and the whole package is so very evocative, for me, of that day in Kent on 10th April 1983.

The resin replication of the bare carbon fibre brake ducting that was used so much at the time is a nice touch and the simple (by today's standards) aerodynamic surfaces are beautifully replicated.

But two areas that really command close inspection are the rear end, with all the ancillaries and pipework, and the cockpit. Take a look at the two pictures and you can begin to see what I mean. It might be pricey but it really is worth every penny.
