Audi's racer for the road crosses the line in first place for detail and finish

Only 99 examples of this special version of Audi's magnificent supercar were produced and the R8 LMX was the very first car to illuminate the road with laser headlights.

As always with DNA Collectibles, the model is manufactured in resin and this allows for much finer detailing to the shut and trim lines.

Modelled in Audi's rather beautiful Ara Blue, just 320 of these marvellous scale beasts have been made, and it's an exclusive for the company at 1/18 scale.

The body shape has been meticulously replicated so looks perfect from any angle, especially with the very slightly metallic finish catching the light so it would look best in a well lit area, be it by natural light or artificial in a display cabinet.

Adding to the drama are the photo-etched badges to the nose (Audi's four rings), the grille (quattro badge), wings ("V 10") and rear (four rings and "R8").

Also worthy of particular note are the areas of carbon-fibre on the real car, astonishingly reproduced here by way of tampo printing. It appears on the front splitter, winglets, side panels, rear wing and rear undertray. Incredibly realistic.

Despite being a resincast, therefore no opening parts, the interior detail has not been skimped on and evidence of this can clearly be seen through the spacious cabin windows and the rear engine cover (that also features the most wonderful heated screen replication). The brake discs and calipers have not been avoided either.
