Excalibur Auctions experiences buoyant results during Lockdown

There were several highlights in its April sale, including a rare, unused Matchbox 1-75 series cardboard shop display stand that exceeded the conservative estimate of £250 - £350, achieving a staggering £700 (plus premium) – this followed previous successes in January with the sale of a Corgi retailer display stand and a rare Dinky toys factory display stand that sold for £550 and £1400 (plus premium) respectively.

The most recent sale on 19th June also achieved exceptional prices across the sale - some highlights being a group of Matchbox Superfast issues that achieved £100 (plus premium) against an auction estimate of £40 - £60 and a Corgi Junior 3023 Transporter Gift Set estimated at £20 - £40 selling for £70 (plus premium). 

Several items from the latter half of the sale which was comprised of the fourth part of the Barry Fentiman private collection of Model Railways and Diecast Toys also exceeded expectations due to their scarcity and condition including a Gaiety Toys clockwork, diecast racing car which sold for £140 (plus premium) and several lots of Dublo Dinky vehicles including an 073 Land Rover and Horse Trailer that achieved £90 (plus premium).

There were also some unusual and rare French diecast models which also sold way above estimate including a Miniatures JRD Tracteur ‘Unic’ Kronenbourg (£120 plus premium); a French Dinky 24c Citroën DS (£110 plus premium); a French Dinky 570 Peugeot JT (£170 plus premium) and a French Dinky 570P Peugeot J7 Version Pompiers (£280 plus premium).
