No, not a real one – this was a Tri-ang Willys pedal car variety, oft sighted in the streets back in the 1960s. Well patinated and rusty to boot, it nonetheless attracted a winning bid of £199 at the recent SAS auction.

SAS reports that modern diecasts continued to go above expectation, but the sale highlights came from a collection of Hornby-Dublo that had lain untouched in an attic for nearly 50 years. A Suburban EMU set, late issue stock with the words ‘Guaranteed’ obliterated on the box, sold for £200, while a classic, late nickel-silver wheel double-chimney 3211 Mallard in its original box made £380. A St Paddy, complete with original card packing pieces and correct green factory string, also in its original box, made £500.
