The DAF XF series was introduced in 2005, featuring the largest cab on the market at the time, a high comfort level and a new PACCAR MX 12.9 litre engine, winning the prestigious International Truck of the Year award in 2007.
Not wanting to rest on its laurels, DAF presented enhancements to the range with the 2009 edition, offering a new cab interior, improved drivetrain and optional safety devices; Adaptive Cruise Control and Front Collision Warning.
For special, light- or heavy-duty applications, DAF supplied the XF 105 tractor and rigid units with a wide choice of wheel bases. Available in various configurations, the vehicle modelled here is a 105 series 4x2, but the tractor unit was also available in 6x2, 6x4 and 8x4 versions. The rigid version also came in 8x2 configuration. The XF 105 also came in a choice of two different cabs, the Space Cab and the Super Space Cab, this model is an example of the latter.
Evolved from the very successful XF 95 series, the XF 105 cab rose to new heights in spaciousness, quality, reliability, driver satisfaction and low operating costs, making it a very popular choice with drivers and fleet operators alike.
Now replaced with the Euro 6 XF, the 105's popularity has spawned hundreds of model replications and this is sure to continue for many years to come due to its reliability, ensuring it will remain at the forefront of fleets and will eventually become a favourite among heritage enthusiasts too.
Based in Armagh, Northern Ireland, Campbell International was established in 1994 and offers refrigerated transport services to clients throughout the UK. The family run business boasts a sizeable fleet and it includes Scania and Mercedes tractor units in addition to DAFs.
The model features the usual WSI excellence throughout, even underneath the cab and to the chassis of both the tractor unit and the trailer, with many moving parts that work just like the real vehicle. The paint finish and graphics are absolutely spot on and the simple livery to the trailer adds to the classy treatment of the subtle fades to the cab grilles. The shade of red is bang on too and is consistent throughout. Everything is crisp where it needs to be and merely holding this model gives you an impression of the quality of workmanship throughout.
