Since Spider-Man was first featured in a Marvel comic book in 1962, many brands has created the character into a playable figure .
With the announcement of Spider-Man: Brand New Day coming out Summer 2026, we thought this would be a good time to focus on old and new Spider-Man toys ahead of the inevitable new collections that will appear.
So, come on into the Marvel time capsule.
Mego Corp Spider-Man
Mego Corp released the original Spider-Man 8” action figure in the 1970s. With one release in 1974 and another in 1977. This was part of their “World’s Greatest Super-Heroes” collection. The only villains released in these collections were Green Goblin and the Lizard.
There are many variations of this original model. They can all be told by the placement of the spider on the chest of the suit: some are in circles, some diamonds, some bigger and some smaller.
Boxed Mego Spider-Man figures are a lot more difficult to find than the carded counterpart. This means ones found in boxes are worth a lot more.
Especially the boxes with a window panel on the front. Quite similar to how people know what a Barbie box looks like. It happens so rarely we have no examples of the price!
50th anniversary re-release was in 2024 and had new versions of the original figures created in a 4-pack.

These are only a few examples of the hundreds of figures and toys that Mego Corp released during their time.

ToyBiz
In January 2001, ToyBiz released their first collection of Spider-Man titled “Spider-Man Classic.” This was the first 6-inch action figure. It later became the standard size for all Marvel action figures.
ToyBiz wanted to create definitive versions of the characters by providing enough articulation to recreate any comic pose.
They came in clamshell packaging inclusive of a comic book copy or poster significant to the future.
The Classics collection can be found online for around $80-$100 depending on the figure. However, it has less luck on the second-hand market with figures selling on eBay for around £5.
The collection was a major hit immediately and continued to do well for a long time. Eventually the toy line ended and was replaced by a new one simply called ‘Spider-Man’ but was called ‘Spider-Man Classic’ on the website. Basically a continuation of the first collection but with a new name.
This time the figures came in blister card packaging and no comics included. These were released from 2002-2006.
In 2005, there was a villain series released which included Carnage, Green Goblin, Lizard, Morbius, Rhino and Scorpion.
Hasbro
Hasbro took over the Marvel licence in 2007 and created Spider-Man: Origins as the next collection. This collection mainly features metallic or repainted figures from the ToyBiz collection.
In 2009, Hasbro shifted its focus from collectible figurines to making figures for children. This again featured some repainted ToyBiz figures.
When Spider-Man: No Way Home was released, so was a flurry of action figures. Some are still selling on the Disney Store website for £25. They are also Tom Holland Infinity Saga Spider-Man figures on Amazon for £34.99.
There is also a Peter Parker and Ned Leeds set for £33.32, this was released for the Spider-Man 60th anniversary.
This year, ‘Marvel Legends Series Spider-Man’ collection was released and features Peter Parker as well as Gamerverse Spider-Man Miles Morales.
All of these would be amazing to start collecting now. Not only would they make a great collection on your shelves, they will also hopefully be worth something in the future.
