The Polly Pocket brand made its debut in the early 80s. The brand had its height of popularity in the late 90s, early noughties. But they are having a resurgence.
The dolls may be quite different now in style and appearance, but the original Polly Pocket charm will always be there.
They have had many collaborations and collections over the years, and we are compiling the best ones for you here. From modern day to OG classics, all the favourites can be found right here. With their current values included.
What is Polly Pocket?
Chris Wiggs originally designed Polly Pocket in 1983 for his daughter. Then it was licensed by Bluebird Toys of Swindon in 1989.
In 1998, Mattel purchased both the brand of Polly Pocket and Bluebird Toys. They decided to redesign the doll into a larger figure with more lifelike appearance. This is what we know as the 1990s Polly Pocket, that blended into the 2000s.
Polly Pocket Advent Calendar
The Polly Pocket advent calendar has been around for many Christmases past. But the advent calendar from 2024 has created controversy. It consisted of two dolls and 24 other gift surprises with a gingerbread house exterior.
Some were upset about the dolls redesign in recent editions. They look like vintage dolls instead of new ones, with the freckles on the cheeks looking like rashes.
However, the other gifts are being received well, with different outfits, snowboards, snowmen and Christmas trees. It creates a truly wonderful Christmas scene. At only £20, it is on the cheaper side for such a full advent calendar.
If you were looking for a vintage Polly Pocket advent calendar though, it may set you back a bit more than £20. The advent calendar from 2011 is currently on eBay for £70. It includes lots more dolls in different outfits but no extra gift surprises.
Polly Pocket Harry Potter Collection
The Polly Pocket Harry Potter collection was part of the large collaborations that Mattel did with their compact Polly Pockets. The compact toys are 7 x 11 x 13 cm, and this item contains 5 main character dolls, 11 accessories and 4 Harry Potter locations.
There are hidden secrets throughout the scenes, it includes Hogwarts Express, the dining room, the sorting hat and the black lake. For collectors, the storytelling is super impressive here, with little easter eggs everywhere only true fans would notice.
Other compact collections include Friends, the Office US and Addams Family Polly Pockets as well as many others. Each compact cost between £30-40.
Polly Pocket Cruise Ship
The Polly Pocket So Hip cruise ship was released in 2006 and was a staple in many young girls’ bedrooms (including mine). Unfortunately, as they were so common they are not worth a high value now, many being on eBay for around £20-30.
This set was revolutionary during the early noughties because it included colour changing bathing suits that would change when put in cold water.
It included a parasailing seat, rock climbing, a super slide and a hot tub. One of the original largest sets that Mattel released, which led to its popularity.

Polly Pocket Car
There isn’t only one Polly Pocket car as they were a staple in the universe. Most generations of dolls have been released with their own car. Most are similar with two seats and plastic over the lap as a seatbelt, but each suit the year it came out. All cars are convertibles and have a slight look of a real life mini about them.
The cars are so popular that people are now wanting their own Polly Pocket car in real life. One user on TikTok called morgenmarie has gained over 4 million followers from documenting her journey to getting her own Polly Pocket car.
The vehicles in the Polly Pocket universe are not just cars, they are also campervans, ice cream trucks, planes and helicopters. Collectors can find some of them on eBay for around £10 each, so their value has not particularly increased since their release.
Disney Polly Pocket
The original Disney collaboration with Polly Pocket came out in the early 1990s. Bluebird Toys owned Polly Pocket at this time, not Mattel. They called it the Disney Tiny Collection.
They were small versions of houses, palaces and scenes from different Disney movies with the main characters coming to life in doll form. The films include Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Mulan.
It also included a whole collection of compact toys, like the harry potter collection we discussed. Collectors now highly seek the Bluebird Disney compacts. They remain a testament to the charm and appeal of the miniature world.
The Winnie the Pooh themed honey pot compact can make around £200 online with the original packaging unopened.
