Dreweatts gets its best result of 2010
Dreweatts of Bristol pushed aside any thoughts of a recession when its latest Collectors’ Sale on Tuesday 9th November turned out to be its best of 2010!
“Certainly the level of bidding interest shown in the saleroom and online was evidence of continued healthy demand from buyers,” commented Peter Rixon of Dreweatt’s Collectors’ Department.
One good indication of what was to come was provided early on in the sale when a collection of 1930s Hornby and Meccano price labels, entered by the descendant of an Aldershot toy shop owner, fetched £1,900.
The sale also included a strong selection of diecast models, of which only one lot failed to sell.
Highlights included a pre-war Dinky 28 Series Delivery Van in Palethorpes livery which reached £300, despite advanced fatigue.
A Corgi No 270 James Bond Aston Martin DB5 sold for £220; a Corgi No 336 James Bond Toyota 2000GT went for £150; with a Corgi Gift Set No 17, Land Rover with Ferrari Racing Car on Trailer (the trailer with repaired draw-bar) reaching £130.
The company’s next specialist sale to include diecast models will take place on Tuesday 18th January 2011.
