Large scale locomotives recently sold well at Stop the Drop Auction

Some excellent large scale locomotives have featured in the most recent Stop the Drop auction. For fans of London & North Western Railway Bowen-Cooke 4-6-2Ts there was even a choice of two different locomotives in two different scales! A Marklin O gauge version sold at £4,200, while an equally sought-after Bing Gauge 2 clockwork model, No 2670, went at £2,100 (pictured right).

A superb Bing Gauge 1 clockwork Great Central Railway 4-6-0 ‘Sir Sam Fay’ with tender sold for £3,300, while a Hornby O gauge 6v electric LMS black 4-4-2T No 6781, in near mint condition, reached £1,000. This sale also included a good choice of Hornby O gauge wagons at reasonable prices.

Several lots of Lionel Lines were also included in this sale with a 260E 2-4-2 locomotive plus 12-wheeled tender making £180, an attractive 2344 New York Central Bo-Bo diesel locomotive plus dummy power unit and centre coach at £160, with seven Silver Series coaches, in very good to excellent condition, selling for a total of £140.
